Learn All About The Theory & Purpose of the Chart of Accounts!

In this course, we will review the ideal R/A Chart of Accounts set up and discuss the theory and purpose of them. Without getting into the details of how to do the bookkeeping, we will discuss why the systems are used.

Learning objectives will include advancing your understanding of accounting terms, highlighting the most misused accounts, the definitions of accounts, and the system of labor burden allocations and percent complete (WIP) accounting.

The target audience for this class includes business owners, data entry clerks, bookkeepers, and contract accounting professionals working with remodelers.

Jackie Shaw is the founder and principal consultant of Get Organized!. She is a proven educator, mentor, and business advisor whose professional background includes accounting, human resources, and administration. Jackie left her job as Controller and HR Manager at a Corvallis-based technology development company in October 2011 to focus on Get Organized! full-time. In 2016, Jackie partnered with Remodelers Advantage. Since then, she has become one of the top national advisors for the Remodeling and Construction industry. Jackie facilitates Round Table peer group meetings, presents at national conferences and has been a guest speaker on podcasts and webinars. Jackie began teaching QuickBooks software training classes at Linn-Benton Community College in 2012. Classes are listed at Events. Jackie also provides training in the community on a broad range of topics (To see a list of presentation topics click here). As part of her commitment to the community, Jackie has served on numerous non-profit boards including Heartland Humane Society and the Institute of Applied Ecology. Jackie holds an Honors Baccalaureate in Science from Eastern Oregon University, with a dual emphasis on Math and Art. As an AmeriCorp Member in 2003-2004, Jackie took to heart the AmeriCorp slogan “Getting things done.” Jackie’s AmeriCorp advisor said, “She is a superb problem-solver” and “perhaps the single most organized person I know.”
